Let's look back on it's highs and lows. It didn't used to have state of the art graphics and visuals, or boards. The first banner I made for it was done in MS paint with sprites from Super Mario Bros. You really want to see the original banner?
are you REALLY sure?
and are you super sure about that?
ok. FEEL THE PAIN:
first banner, v1
Here's some later designs i came up with from the same banner:
first banner, v1.2
first banner, v1 era, signature ad:
temporary site banner, signature ad banner, used in v2-3:
and Rekkin made an animated version of it:
And then I decided, it's time to get a professional. I went to PB support and got them to make this:
v2 banner:
A little different than it was, eh? that's 'cause i modified the text a little to look like this:
v2.1 banner:
this one was our v3 one, made by Arcum:
and our current v4 one is the banner that was Arcum's entry in the banner competition.
Originally, when the Gamer's Forum first came into existance, Proboards was only on V3, so they didn't have sub board capabilities, so this forum had over 80 boards in the beginning, and a lot of them weren't very good either. A lot of boards were more divided and a lot of times you couldn't really find what board to post your thread.
And...get this: every board, including the main page, had MUSIC!! UGH! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? I ACTUALLY PUT FREAKING MUSIC ON THE PAGES! and every page had a different song! they were all zelda MIDIs..and now that i look back on it, that was really dumb.
the color scheme was....interesting, we would have about 15 different skins at a time, and not really any of them were very good. they were composed of mediocre colors and crappy backgrounds, as well as no customized images.
