Does 2+2=5? or does it equal me?

2+2 does equal four, in itself. But since your equation failed to state whether of not there was any more to it, I shall assume that your equation, at its full length, is 2+2+1. Therefore, 2+2 can indeed equal 5, but only if that is not the whole equation, and the rest of said equation (everything else but 2+2) equals 1 in the end, giving you 2+2+1=5 (simplified)

I can prove that 2+2=5 because 2+2=4 and 4=5.
* Start with the identity
-20=-20
* Express both sides in slightly different, yet equivalent ways
25-45 = 16-36
* Factor both sides
5^2 - 5X9 = 4^2 - 4X9
* Add the same thing to both sides
5^2 - 5X9 + 81/4 = 4^2 - 4X9 + 81/4
* Now factor both sides again
(5 - 9/2)^2 = (4 - 9/2)^2
* Square root both sides
5 - 9/2 = 4 - 9/2
* Cancel the common factor
5 = 4
This proof is obviously wrong and you should have no problem finding where the error is but since I am a Pirate Ninja I say that 2+2=5! (and the ! isn't factorial by the way) And also 2+2 does actually = 5 for extremeley large values of 2.

Because he realised that even after years of horribly cliched, terribly obvious questions, he liked it that way.
